A SUPPORTIVE ROLE

Helpful Tools, Not the Whole Plan

E-Stim and Kinesio taping can support rehabilitation, but they are not the entire plan.

At Summit Spine & Wellness, these modalities may be used alongside:

  • Movement
  • Exercise
  • Chiropractic care
  • Hands-on treatment
  • Active rehabilitation

The goal is not to use a modality simply because it is available.

The goal is to choose the tools that make sense for the person in front of us.

ELECTRICAL STIMULATION

What Is E-Stim Therapy?

Electrical stimulation, commonly called E-Stim, uses controlled electrical impulses delivered through pads placed on the skin.

At Summit, E-Stim may be used as a supportive rehabilitation modality when appropriate.

It may be considered as part of a broader plan involving movement, exercise, chiropractic care or other rehabilitation strategies.

E-Stim is not automatically used with every patient.

Whether it makes sense depends on the individual situation and goals.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What Does E-Stim Feel Like?

Most people feel a controlled tingling or pulsing sensation during E-Stim.

The intensity can be adjusted based on comfort and the purpose of the session.

The goal is not to make the stimulation as strong as possible.

If something feels uncomfortable, let the Summit team know so the settings can be adjusted.

MOVEMENT SUPPORT

What Is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio taping uses flexible tape applied to selected areas of the body.

It may be used as a supportive tool during movement, exercise or rehabilitation when appropriate.

The tape is designed to move with the body rather than rigidly restrict movement.

How and where it is applied depends on the individual patient and the goal of care.

HOW IT FITS

How Kinesio Taping May Support Movement

Kinesio taping may be used when Dr. Hiebert believes additional support or feedback may be helpful during activity.

It may be incorporated alongside:

  • Active rehabilitation
  • Corrective exercise
  • Chiropractic care
  • Soft tissue work
  • Return-to-activity plans

It is one tool, not a complete treatment plan by itself.

OUR APPROACH

The Machine Isn't the Rehabilitation Plan

Technology can support care, but it should not replace appropriate movement, exercise, hands-on treatment or clinical judgment.

At Summit, modalities such as E-Stim are used as tools within a broader plan when they are appropriate.

The device is not the plan.

The patient's goals, evaluation and progress are what guide the plan.

IS IT APPROPRIATE FOR YOU?

Could E-Stim or Kinesio Taping Be Right for You?

Whether a rehabilitation modality makes sense depends on your individual situation.

Dr. Hiebert may consider factors such as:

  • Your examination findings
  • What you are experiencing
  • Your movement goals
  • Your activity level
  • Your response to care
  • The broader rehabilitation plan

You do not need to decide which modality you need before scheduling.

That is part of the evaluation.
